Caleb Williams, the number one pick from the 2024 NFL draft, looks to be struggling through his transition phase of life from college. Within the first three weeks of the season, according to one analyst for the NFL, Emmanuel Acho, everyone expects Williams to be better because of the high anticipation.
"Caleb, if you were better coming out of college than every other rookie, then I need you to be better in the NFL than every other rookie," Acho said. "You can't be better than Bo Nix in college, but then get to the NFL and be worse. You can't be better than Jayden Daniels in college, but then get to the NFL and be worse..."
He continued, "I am not surprised that Caleb Williams is struggling. I am surprised that Caleb Williams is struggling this much. So yes, rookies should be rookies, but if you were better than all them, then I need you to be better than all them. So Caleb, if you was better than all of the dudes then, why'd he caught you?”
The great college career for Caleb Williams saw the Chicago Bears draft him in a draft class that was heavy on quarterbacks. Caleb Williams did poorly in the three weeks of his NFL career. His game to date has been in a loss to the Indianapolis Colts, completing 33-of-52 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns. He also had two interceptions; his first two touchdown passes in his pro career. This season, he has completed 70-of-118 passes for 630 yards, four interceptions, 13 sacks, 67 yards rushing, and two fumbles. The Chicago Bears QB was the first rookie to throw a touchdown pass, which meant a more challenging transition for this year's rookie class.
