The common people joined in and took part in the jam session and sloganeering. Kaushik Ganguly was witness to the demonstration and penned an emotional note on social media expressing his thoughts.
Kaushik shared a glimpse from the musicians’ demonstration on his social media profile where a little girl was seen taking part in the protest jam sitting on the shoulders of her father. Kaushik wrote, “Everyone is walking together day and night, singing, drawing, chanting for you, dear girl. Grow up in the sound of protest in our city! May we succeed in the pursuit of giving you a more secure civil life.”

After the demonstration ‘Reclaim the Night’ on August 14, a bunch of artists from the Bengal entertainment industry once again reclaimed the night along with the common people on Sunday, September 1. From Swastika Mukherjee, Sohini Sarkar, Bidipta Chakraborty, Sudipta Chakraborty to Birsa Dasgupta, Shovan Ganguly, Debleena Dutta, Madhurima Goswami, and other prominent Tollywood celebrities walked in the rally called by ‘Amra Tilottoma’ collective and then spent the night on the street of Kolkata.

Kaushik Ganguly could not make it to that rally on September 1. However, the acclaimed filmmaker saluted them and sent them an encouraging message via social media. Kaushik said, “The Esplanade of the night entered our drawing room through the television. In the next night, you will be awake through television and we will spend the night on the street. It is a long way. Let us be awake taking turns till we get justice.”

A day after that, Kaushik joined in the demonstration arranged by the music fraternity of Kolkata, on September 2. Kaushik’s film ‘Kaberi Antardhan’ recently won Best Feature Film in Bengali at the 70th National Film Awards, which was announced on August 16. The director, who also acted in the film, expressed his gratitude on the win. However, the director said in a statement, “I am accepting the National Award for Best Bengali film for ‘Kaberi Antardhan’ with all humility. I am thankful that our team have been bestowed with the honour. But we cannot celebrate the success in getting National Award in view of the present situation in Bengal.”
