JAIPUR: Over 5.26 crore voters will decide the fate of 1,862 candidates contesting from 199 seats in the assembly elections to be held in the state on Saturday, said Rajasthan's chief electoral officer
Praveen Gupta. Voting will begin at 7am and continue till 6pm.
There are 2.74 crore male voters, 2.52 crore female voters and 614 third gender voters in Rajasthan.
In all, 22.61 lakh new voters will be able to cast their votes for the first time. Voting will be conducted at 51,890 booths across the state, he said. Election to the Karanpur assembly seat has been adjourned due to the demise of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Kooner.
Over 1.02 lakh security personnel have been deployed across the state to ensure peaceful polls. This includes 69,114 personnel of the Rajasthan police; 32,876 personnel of the Rajasthan Home Guard, forest guard and RAC; and 700 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). There are 9,690 critical polling stations and 2,743 vulnerable areas in the state. Districts such as Dausa, Bharatpur, Sawai Madhopur and Sikar have the highest number of critical polling stations in the state.
Live webcast will be done in 26,393 polling stations. "These polling centres will be monitored from district-level control rooms," he said.
As many as 65,277 ballot units, 62,372 control units, and 67,580 VVPAT machines, including reserves, will be used for voting across the state. "To ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections, 6,287 micro observers and 6,247 sector officers have been appointed. One additional EVM machine will be given to all sector officers," he said.
Some 2,74,846 polling officials will be deployed across the state, with 7,960 women officials in charge at women-managed polling stations along with 796 specially-abled officials at polling centres to help persons with disabilities, Gupta said. "To ensure free and fair elections, three flying squads and three static security teams (SSTs) will be deployed in each assembly constituency to conduct intensive checking and monitoring. One additional FS and SST team will be deployed in each sensitive polling station on the voting day," he said.
As many as 41,224 big and small vehicles will be deployed to facilitate smooth movement of polling teams, security personnel, EVM machines and sector officers. In all, 17,617 vehicles will be in service for the police force and polling parties, 20,844 small passenger vehicles for sector officers, and 2,470 trucks/mini trucks to transport EVM machines.
