Prior to the opening of the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex, PM Modi performed a "havan".

The redeveloped ITPO complex or Integrated Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) at Pragati Maidan in Delhi is all set to host grand events.

With this, Delhi will get a world-class facility for conventions and exhibitions.

The IECC at Pragati Maidan is spread across 123 acres and is India’s largest venue for Meetings, Incenti-ves, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), a feature present across all top cities in the world.

The project has been completed at a cost of Rs 2,150 crore.

The redevelopment of Pragati Maidan led by National Buildings Construction Corporation began in 2017 and the initial deadline was 2019.

The complex, which will host the G20 summit, has large moveable walls and can also be converted into three separate halls for meetings.

The plenary hall at the centre has a seating capacity of 7,000, which makes it larger than the 5,500-seater Sydney Opera House.

The complex comprises one mega convention centre divided into four levels, 24 meeting rooms, two auditoriums and another two halls.

According to sources, while the IECC was being designed, studies were carried out across countries including South Korea, US, Germany and China, which have such facilities.
