IndiGo to likely begin flight operations from Pakyong Airport from October

IndiGo Airlines plans to launch flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Hyderabad to Pakyong Airport in Sikkim starting October, aiming to enhance tourism. Nepal's Buddha Air seeks to offer a daily Kathmandu-Pakyong service pending approval. Discussions are also in progress with Blade Air and Jetwing for more flights to commence this year.
IndiGo to likely begin flight operations from Pakyong Airport from October
IndiGo Airlines are expected to commence flight operations from Pakyong Airport in Sikkim from October, an official said on Monday.
Pakyong airport director, Sanjeev Kumar Singh said that the airline will operate flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad to Pakyong Airport and will boost tourism in Sikkim.
Presently the commercial viability and data analysis is being examined by the airline and AAI, he added.

The Pakyong airport director said that Nepal's Buddha Air is looking to launch daily flight service from Kathmandu to Pakyong, however, approval from the directorate general of civil aviation remains pending.
The director further said that, "There is a possibility that operations will start soon as Sikkim government is presently reviewing the proposal of Blade Air while Jetwing already has been allotted flight from Guwahati to Pakyong under the Regional Connectivity Scheme of the Government of India, and they will start operations by November this year if the conditions are favorable."
There are discussions going on with Blade Air and Jetwing airlines to start flight operations from Pakyong Airport this year, he added.
At present only SpiceJet operates these flights from Delhi and Kolkata to Pakyong airport.
